Etiopía

Ethiopia is a landlocked country located in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Djibouti and Somalia to the east, Sudan and South Sudan to the west, and Kenya to the south. Ethiopia is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance, being one of the oldest nations in the world with evidence of human habitation dating back millions of years. It is also notable for being the origin of coffee and its unique script, Ge’ez, which is used for writing in Amharic, the official language. Ethiopia has a diverse range of ethnic groups and languages, with over 80 recognized ethnicities. The country is historically significant as it was never colonized, maintaining its independence except for a brief Italian occupation during World War II. Ethiopia is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and the ancient city of Aksum. The Ethiopian calendar and time system are also distinct from the Gregorian calendar, further reflecting its unique cultural identity.
